Carol Engel-Enright

Carol Engel-Enright is an apparel design instructor and Apparel and Merchandising Internship Coordinator at Colorado State University. She holds degrees in fashion design from Kansas State University and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.  Carol has also taught apparel design classes at the Art Institute of Colorado and Emily Griffith Opportunity School in Denver.

Ms. Engel-Enright has her Master of Science in Design and Merchandising from Colorado State University and PhD in Education incorporating Social Sustainability and Design Entrepreneurship in Apparel and Textiles. Before becoming an educator she worked as an assistant designer in New York City. Her retail management experience includes department manager and assistant buyer for The Denver Department Store and Montaldo’s specialty designer fashion stores.

She has designed costumes for Boulder Dinner Theater and free-lanced as a couture designer of apparel. Her juried awards include selection as finalist in Threads Magazine Design Challenge; Best of Show in T.ART, Textile Art Exhibit, Colorado State University; Finalist and 3rd Place Winner in Thai Silk Design Contest, Thailand Royal Peacock Sericulture Institute; and Fiber Arts Live Gallery, International Textile and Apparel Association.

Ms. Engel-Enright is currently on the Board of Directors of the Denver Design Incubator and was the Regional Director for Fashion Group International of Denver. She has been highly involved with the Rising Star Awards sponsored by Fashion Group International of Denver to recognize new fashion entrepreneurs and successful apparel companies in Colorado. Her research at Colorado State University focuses on apparel production and training skilled workforce for apparel manufacturing to assist new designers in high quality, small batch production.

David Russon

Project Coordinator

David is an independent patternmaker and sample maker. He is most often found assisting start-up designers head to production with patternmaking and prototyping needs. He excels at teaching individuals and groups how to develop their own skills in the industry. Due to his natural love for teaching and his desire to see manufacturing brought back to US soil, David has also spent the past several years aiding small sewing facilities with training on industrial grade equipment. David has two bachelor’s degrees, one in clothing construction with an emphasis on patternmaking from Brigham Young University and the second in apparel design from Colorado State University.

Julie Worley

economic development specialist 

A “rural advocate” to the core, Julie Worley genuinely believes that we must encourage and foster adult and youth entrepreneurship  if our rural communities are going to “survive and thrive”. 

For the past sixteen years, Julie has worked as a rural economic developer/consultant in Rocky Ford, Holyoke, Haxtun, and across Southeast Colorado.  She worked with other developers on collaborative projects ranging from housing, to business attraction, retention, and development, to youth entrepreneurial activities and endeavors.    Julie has assisted numerous individuals in business development – from finding start-up resources to “open for business”.

 Julie was born and raised on a ranch in the beautiful Sandhills of Western Nebraska, and attended Colorado State University/Fort Collins, and later graduated from National American University/Rapid City with a BS degree in Business Management. 

 An active member of her community, Julie served for nine years on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Rural Development Council, and organized the first ever,  statewide Colorado Entrepreneurship MarketPlace.  Julie presently serves on the Arts for Colorado Board of Directors, and is very involved in several organizations throughout Southeast Colorado and in her home community.

Jennifer Worrell

Project Coordinator

Jennifer Worrell is a luxury design and merchandising professional with a passion for quality, beauty, and the next generation. Jennifer worked for Neiman Marcus for nearly 9 years, where she grew from Assistant Buyer for the Beauty division online to a Business Lead for the Product Information Management (PIM) system that as part of a full Oracle-suite implementation. Jennifer recently acquired her Master's degree from Colorado State University. Her thesis work took her to the titans of luxury retail and design houses in both the United States and Italy, where she studied brand management strategies and hand-craftsmanship. She has become increasingly invested in Colorado's local up-and-coming design and manufacturing community, primarily through RCAM. Jennifer currently teaches design and merchandising courses at Colorado State University while running her own business doing custom bridal design and alterations.
